Damsgård Country Mansion was built as a country mansion in the 1770s. The house is considered the best example of wooden Rococo architecture in Norway, and may well be the most authentic wooden building from this period in Europe. The mansion was in private ownership until 1983, when it was bought by the State and the City of Bergen to be preserved as a cultural-historical heritage site. Over the next ten years, the mansion’s buildings were restored.
